B.TECH IN BIOTECHNOLOGY

B.Tech in Biotechnology is a 4 year graduate level course which is treated as one of the fine courses among the various Biotechnology courses. A branch of Applied Biology dealing with the usage of living organisms and bioprocesses in the field of Engineering, Technology and Medicine is Biotechnology. As this is a freshly emerging field, graduates of B.Tech Biotechnology can search jobs conveniently in India and overseas as well.





It caters to the industrial sector such as textiles industry, food and beverages industry, biological products, medicines and pharmaceuticals whereas on the other hand this branch of science caters to the requirements of animal husbandry, agriculture, nutrition and environmental conservation.


ELIGIBILITY


To pursue B.Tech in Biotechnology the student is required to complete his/her 10+2 in science stream with Physics, chemistry, biology.


START EARLY


To pursue biotechnology as a culled profession, you must have a sound grounding in science from the early school days. You must have keen interest in different branches of science along with a keen perception to understand scientific applications and even keep pace with the latest news from the scientific world.


CAREER IN PRIVATE SECTOR AFTER B.TECH IN BIOTECHNOLOGY


B.Tech in Biotechnology graduates can apply for jobs in different pharmaceutical companies. Some of those companies are Dabur, Cipla, Hindustan Lever, Rossari Biotech India Pvt. Ltd and Hindustan antibiotics. 


POSITIONS


They can work in these companies as Marketing Manager, Quality Control officer or Production in-charge. Several other companies also provide jobs for these graduates. They can work as a software developer or a web developer in any software company. They can also join HCL in the networking section.


JOB PROSPECTS


Companies like Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd and Godrej possess a biotechnology division where a lot of job opportunities are available for these graduates. They can also look up for jobs in IT field. It is better to do any software or networking courses before applying for jobs in this field. 


GOVERNMENT CAREER AFTER B.TECH IN BIOTECHNOLOGY


B.Tech graduates can apply for jobs in several Government Research Institutes. Few of those Institutes are Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), National Brain Research Centre and National Institute of Oceanography. They can also work as a Research Scientist in these Institutes. They can also apply for lecture post in various Government Institutions. Several government exams are conducted by different government organizations to recruit these graduates to various government posts.


PAY PACKAGES


Like any other job profile, the pay package mainly depends on your academic qualification, your area of specialization and the institution from where you have earned your degree. Fresh graduates in this field can generally bag a monthly salary in the range of Rs 8K - Rs 20K.
