B.TECH IN CIVIL ENGINEERING


THE MOST CONVENTIONAL COURSE

The oldest and most conventional sought after branch of Engineering is Civil engineering. The study of planning, designing and then implementation of structural activities is comprised in the syllabus.






QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED


The qualifications required to pursue this course is 10+2 with Science stream.


TASKS OF A CIVIL ENGINEER


The working area of this field consists of the jobs that start from the planning, analyzing, designing, supervision and construction of various public works such as bridges, dams, water sewages, etc. 


A PROMISING FUTURE


A Civil Engineer’s profession is to indulge in the constructional activities of different works. They make plans, designs of different infrastructures and supervise its constructional works. They need excellent skills in both supervision and administration. The planning is beginning of their work. This stage involves site analysis, feasibility studies and finding solutions to the various complications involved and the designing of the structures.


JOB PROSPECTS


Dive into a pool of job opportunities offered by the public as well as private sector. Because of the flourishing infrastructure and real estate industries the demand for the Civil graduates are increasing day by day. After B.Tech these professionals can look for employment in different consultancy firms, infrastructure works, road projects, housing societies etc. carried out by central government, state government, private companies and railway departments. However their demand will increase if they are experienced professionals. 

They get abroad job opportunities also. Several international infrastructure companies are recruiting them for different constructional works.


SALARY RANGE


On different determinants the salary range of a Civil Engineer depends such as educational qualification, work location, employer, skills, and institute from where the candidate pursued the degree, industry and experience.

Basically, if graduated from colleges other than IITs then the Civil Engineer’s initial salary could be between INR 2.5 lacs-INR 3.5 lacs per annum. Whereas an IIT graduate in Civil Engineering could earn approx. INR 7 Lacs to INR 8 Lacs per annum.
