ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Basically, B.Tech in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is for 4 years, the minimum eligibility for which is 10+2 or equivalent in science stream with PCM. It is compulsory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E) FOR IITs. There is an upper age limit of 23 years to enter the programme.

They also require good planning ability and a knack for working under pressure. An aeronautical engineer is supposed to be physically fit and may need to often work at great speed especially in checking and maintenance of aircrafts during turnarounds.  Candidates have to appear for aircraft maintenance licensing examinations held by DGCA after the completion of training program. The licenses are issued for a particular type of aircraft. Hence, aircraft maintenance engineers who hold license of servicing Boeing planes are authorized to examine only Boeing aircraft and certify its fitness.

The estimated initial salary in government/public sectors such as HAL, NAL are Rs. 8k to Rs.10k without other allowances.
